Andrea Szakál

Born in 1980 in Budapest, Hungary, she graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 2005 with an MA in Architecture Design and in 2006 with an MA in Visual Education. In 2009 she graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU) in Prague with a Master Degree in Stage design at the Theatre Faculty. During her years in Prague, she worked as an art director, set and costume designer, and turned her attention to site-specific theatre and performances combining different artistic disciplines. In addition, Andrea occasionally works as an assistant art director for feature films (Hungarian, Norwegian and Dutch) and as a set designer for major theatre productions in Hungary and abroad.
Her work combines her experience in all fields. Her interests focus on abandoned neighbourhoods and uninhabited buildings. Her aim is to bring new life to these areas through architecture and different artistic disciplines, and to help the newly created spaces to become successful enterprises in the long term.
